Lutyens Chasuble

I have been quite busy recently with a commission and two design projects for future Ordination stoles but I am finally able to begin the white chasuble commissioned by my sister to pair with her stole.

Luytens Stole

Although I already had my design and pattern from the stole, the orphrey down the front of the chasuble is wider and shorter, so my original design had to be altered to fit. Not as easy as you might think !!! With a little help from someone more mathematically capable we have managed it.

Today I have been transferring the design from the drawing to the back of the silk using a water soluble pen. I also use a light box which helps me to see the design through the fabric more easily. As this is a very precise design this technique helps enormously.

The next stage is begin stitching the coloured silks on, always exciting if a little daunting.
