One of my favourite commissions, this stole is based on the Luytens window within the crypt of Liverpool Catholic Cathedral of Christ the King and was completed in winter 2017. It is dupion silk, with a cotton backing and is entirely worked in reverse applique, a technique I learnt way back when, on a weekend course at near Bala and I love to use it whenever I can. The hardest part of creating this stole was getting the design correct, as it needed to be as accurate geometrically as possible.
