The Iona Ordination Stole

This stole was commissioned by a priest for her ordination at Chester cathedral in June 2019. She had a number of ideas that she wanted me to incorporate in to her stole. The island of Iona held very significant memories for her and she had brought back a small pottery jug which she wanted to replicate as accurately as possible. She also made her own bobbing lace which we used and the symbols of wheat, grapes, water and the dove were to be in the design. It is made from dupion silk with elements of hand couched Jap thread, seed beads and lace pieces.
