The brief for this commission was that the client wanted the stole to have a border of pomegranates and bells below a cross with flames and a dove and it wasn’t to be overly ‘flashy’! I hope I managed it. The bells signify the calling of the believer and the pomegranates to the conduct of the believer, also of sanctity, fertility and abundance. This commission turned into two as I was also asked to created a Tippet with the same design along the bottom. The design I think looked very striking against the black silk.
The stole was created using coloured silks and machine embroidery on ivory and black Dupion silk.
