This was my first commission for an altar fall and matching lectern fall. St Peter’s is modern building, the altar and lectern are simple beautiful oak pieces. It was commissioned by a family in memory of a loved one. The commission was to create pieces that reflected the symbols of St Peter, keys and the crossed keys. I wanted the pieces to have a sense of movement, as they were to be viewed mainly from a distance and needed to be impactful. I liked the idea of fish in a net moving up towards the light and after submitting a number of coloured sketches, the final design was chosen.
