Stained Glass Chalice – Wheat & Grapes

This stole was commissioned to celebrate the return of the church’s curate after maternity leave. I was given some photographs of the windows and other important symbols of the village of Berinsfield. The village having been built on the site of a former RAF WW2 airfield. I decided to use the beautiful brightly coloured windows as my inspiration. The chalice & wafer side of the stole is taken directly from one of the windows of the church but the wheat & grapes I created in the style of the other window.

The stole is made from ivory silk Dupion with small pieces of brightly coloured silk individually stitched down using zig zagged metallic gold thread.
