Portland Bill Stole

This commission came from parishioners who wanted to present their vicar with a leaving gift.

It incorporates some very specific references of important significance to him, Portland Bill lighthouse, the sea, ammonites which can be found in the rocks of the shoreline all along the Dorset coast, a stone derrick, a reference to the Portland stone quarried in the area and last but by no means least the insignia of the Dorset & Wiltshire fire brigade, where the vicar once served.

This is a silk dupion stole, with a machine embroidered applique design, with a white cotton lining.

It was completed in January 2021
