Wild Flowers & Bees

The brief for this commission was to have wild flowers growing up from the bottom, to keep the colours as natural as possible and to include three honey bees, one for each of their children. Technically this turned out to be more difficult than I imagined as I had to work out which layer of leaves, grasses or flowers came in which order and then stitching the tiny spaces sometimes created by the overlapping. I have to admit to being rather pleased with the finished result though. On the back neck seam is one further honey bee, a poignant reminder for the client.

The stole is created using ivory Dupion silk with applique silk pieces and finished with machine embroidery.
