The inspiration for this stole came from Psalm 31:12 … I have faded from memory as if I were dead and have become like a piece of broken pottery…. but by using the Japanese art of Kintsugi, stitching things back together using gold, we can create something beautiful and strong again. The client is also dyslexic and has discovered through a journey of discovery that what they believed to be the worst thing about themselves is actually what God uses beautifully & they want to share this message with others, through the medium of their stole. It features a pottery chalice, paten and a loaf of bread. The client also wanted the cracks to appear on the stole itself as though it had been dropped and then fixed back together.
The stole has been created using silks appliqued on to an ivory Dupion silk background and attached using gold thread.
