This stole was commissioned by an aunt for her nephew. It was to be kept fairly simple, as purple is worn during Lent, a time for repentance and self-reflection, so it needed to reflect this. The design is mirrored on both sides with a cross, alpha and omega symbols. A dove was placed on the left at chest height.
The stole was created using purple Dupion silk with the design appliqued using gold thread. This is an example of a ‘Symbol’ stole.
