Forest Of Dean

The beautiful Forest of Dean and the River Seven were the inspiration for this stole. The client wanted the design to reflect the broad-leaved trees of the forest, like Oak, Alder & Beech and the wonderful wildlife and bluebells that can be found there. The horseshoe bend of the river was to feature prominently too. I decided to use the river as a way of dividing the stole foreground from the background and highlighting it by using beautiful gold silk rather than trying to make it look like a river.

This stole was created on an ivory silk Dupion background with the image being machine appliqued using complementary colours. The river was outlined using gold metallic thread. This is an example of a ‘scenic’ stole.
