This stole was commissioned by a priest who wanted an oak tree, as it was her father’s favourite tree. It is worked in dupion silks, with small elements of goldwork. Actual oak leaves were rubbed to create the shapes for the tree and then some were worked in reverse applique to add depth and interest. The little acorns at the base of the tree were padded with felt and covered in gold kid leather. A very dramatic, impactful stole, I think.
