This stole was a commission from a mother for her daughter. There are many elements in this stole that have a special significance for her. The words ‘You Make Me Brave’ from a favourite hymn, have words that resonate with her journey towards Ordination, the little boat representing her. The Thine Be The Glory was her grandfather’s favourite hymn and Ivy and Pearl ((tiny little pearl beads) were her grandmothers.
This stole is worked in ivory Dupion silk with machine appliqued elements and hand embroidered 3ply twist ivy stalks, the ivy flowers are hand attached bugle beads. Little pearl and turquoise beads finish the stole as tiny splashes of sea spray.
