Stole My Heart by Elaine

This commission came from a school in Blackpool that wanted to say goodbye and thank you to their priest who was moving to a new parish. I was asked to use the school logo which featured Blackpool Tower, their school, Our lady and linking them all together with the waves of the sea. As the image was wide and narrow I had to work out a way to make it fit onto a stole which is long and thin, quite a challenge! So I took the main pictorial elements, placed them so they were visually pleasing and then wove the stylised waves between them.

This stole was worked on ivory Dupion silk, with appliqued silks and machine embroidery.
