This commission came from an Ordinand who wanted their stole to reflect their affinity to Maunday Thursday and the washing of feet and the central role of Holy Communion. The design of the chalice is based on an Elizabethan chalice & the jug design is of one used at their prior church, that held fond memories. They wanted a design that was more of an outline, rather blocks of colour. On the nape of the neck the black and gold cross is from St John’s Harpenden. This has resulted I feel in a simple but very striking design.
The stole is worked on Ivory Dupion Silk with gold and silver metallic machine embroidery.
