This stole was commission by a client who was going to be conducting the marriage ceremony of two friends whose Christian names both began with ‘M’. The wedding was to take place in a rural location so the idea of a floral sprig surrounding the monogram felt appropriate. The tint little flowers and leaves are held in place with very small zig zag stitches, ensuring the image remains delicate in its appearance. On the back neck seam there is the logo of the University College of London where the client studied.
This stole is an example of a mitred back neck seam, as opposed to a straight seam. It is worked in ivory Dupion silk with machine appliqued flowers & leaves and machine embroidered stems and branches.
